Valentines Day

Here we go again with table decorations. I finally figured out how to upload pictures (after one year) to the computer. Flowers bought at walmart- 10$ on Valentines Day and probably 4$ every other day!!
Bird napkin rings bought at Target after Christmas sale.
The whole look. Glasses from Goodwill and candle holders made by glueing vases to candle sticks.
New bird plates to go with the rest of the "bird thing" going on here. As Noel would say silver "coasters"
When the Sister Missionaries came for dinner they liked my table so much that they wanted to take a picture to send home. I liked it but did not realize it was that spectacular. I need to spend less time on table decor and more time on food prep!

Winter Crafting

Here are a few pictures of some things that I have come up with in the last few weeks. Instead of doing what I should be doing I have been making "stuff". One Sunday evening a few weeks ago we had our good friends over for dinner and I was looking for a centerpiece so I glued my glass vase onto a candle holder. Then wrapped a doily around and tied with some silver ribbon and added Hayley's vintage earring. I put it next to the mercury glass candle holder and floated water and candles. It is kind of frou frou but it was fun.

That's all folks!

The Bike Race

This is another attempt to try to catch up on some of the events from this past summer. Actually, this event took place in September when Les and the kids were visiting with us for a week. That weekend Noel came up to Roch. to ride in a 100 mile bike race/ride with his friend Greg Creighton. It took place down in Bristol and swept along the lake by Naples. It ended up being a beautiful day with great temps and sunshine. We took Luke and Julia and attempted to be there at the finish line when they crossed. They were taking a lot longer to complete the 100 miles due to some detours they made along the way. Therefore, we tried to drive along the end of the route to cheer them on. Above is a pic of Luke and Julia climbing on a rock at a "rest stop" for the bikers. See the beautiful scenery behind them. It was glorious that day.
Papa with one little monkey.
The two amigos near the end of the race. They had just completed this really long uphill climb and were still smiling. We passed them in the car and when we passed Greg we yelled out the window to him. Julia was in her car seat in the back and did not quite get the fact that the Greg we were talking about was not Gregger her little cousin. When we mentioned Greg's sister Laura (wondering if she was in the race as well) Julia was very confused. After a little silence (where she was really thinking-wondering how she missed the fact that little Greg had a sister) she asked us if Greg's sister was older or younger. I said she was younger and Julia said "Is she one, since Greg is 2?" It was a definite "Who's on first" moment. What a fun day!!

Behind the Scenes

I am so far behind on the blog that I cannot go so far back because it would take me too long to catch up. Therefore, I thought I would include some behind the scenes photos from the day before the wedding. Here is Julia, jet-lag and all, doing something different-dancing around the yard. While we were setting up tents, chairs, flowers, etc. she spent many a minute twirling and finding dangerous places to climb and jump from.
Jordan was so lucky as to be one of the guys to haul, mow, move and in general do all that we asked him to do.
The fearless photographer faced with the monumental task of taking the family photo. His biggest job was to be considered the "boss". Not an easy task with certain very bossy family members.
Trying to get the children and dogs to cooperate and stay clean at the same time.
The bride and groom to-be. Jordan is picking bugs off Maren and me in a constant state of hyperventilation.
After the picture taking we still had this to deal with. Check out Hayley's pix on Facebook for the finished product.
What a crazy and fun day. We were all together for a really short time but in my opinion the behind the scenes day was the best.

Up and Going Again

I decided that maybe I would like to get going again on my blog. Although, I am doing it all backwards, but I will get the hang of it again soon. Above is Grandma's bday gift. A Topiary arrangement that I thought looked particularly good on her table.

This is a picture of the pumpkin topiarys that I made for the front porch. I still need a wreath and some mums, but that is the next post.
close up of the topiary
Just realized that I am doing my posts backwards. The above picture is the apartment door wreath.
Yesterday was "Crafty Saturday" up on the "Ridge". Enthused by the fall like weather that we are having after a 90 dgree Thursday I decided to make some fall accesories for the back door and the apartment door. This picture above is the back door.

I am still alive in the blogworld

This has nothing to do with anything from Christmas, New Years or the kids. I haven't posted for a million years and wanted to start getting into the habit again. Here is Rusty this past fall in his favorite spot up by the pond and the field by our house. Doesn't he look as though he is smiling. Wouldn't it be nice if all it took to make us happy was a jaunt around the pond and a dog treat!! Have a great day!!
